Brisbane North Community Legal Service (BNCLS) is a community legal service which provides free legal advice, information, and referral services on a range of issues to vulnerable members of the community.

Legal services

We can assist with:
  • Family law
  • Domestic and Family Violence
  • Criminal law
  • Minor Traffic
  • Minor civil & debt matters
  • Consumer law
  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Wills, estates, and powers of attorney (advice only – no drafting)
  • Tenancy matters (although please refer to QSTARS first)

To obtain legal advice through Brisbane North Community Legal Service, you must provide the following information:
• Complete a Client Intake Form complete with “Other Party’s” details and a brief description of your matter
• Provide any relevant paperwork which could assist our staff with your matter

We do not provide advice on immigration matters, taxation law, native title, major commercial and building matters, draft wills or enduring power of attorney or sign off on any legal documents. If you require more specialised advice, case work or representation we can refer you to another legal service or to a private practitioner.

Wednesday Evening Legal Service

Wednesday evening service via phone appointment only.  Please contact us during office hours to enquire about an evening legal appointment

Wednesday Evening Legal Service is staffed by dedicated volunteers and run by the Legal Service Administrator. Solicitors with specialist knowledge on a range of legal issues volunteer their time to provide information, advice and referral.

Community Legal Education Seminars

Our free Community Legal Education Seminars can be accessed by school groups, community organisations and clubs. The aim of the seminars is to provide relevant legal information, referrals, and linkages to other community support available.
